Christians need to learn more about Islam—a lot more. The religion has more than 1.6 billion adherents. Some of them—but not all—have engaged in terrible acts of violence against Christians in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia. The main perpetrators in the murder of more than 2 million Christians in the Anatolian Peninsula between 1915 and 1922 were Islamic. Muslim-majority countries have also been significant sources of anti-Jewish invective in the modern world. In fact, leaders of these countries have tried to destroy the Jewish state on a number of occasions since its creation in 1948.
Trump's enemies have almost destroyed his understanding with Putin regarding Syria. Now the question is whether or not Trump can break through his enemies' sabotage of his nascent Middle East policy. Governments in Tehran, Riyadh, Ankara, Damascus, Beirut, Abu Dhabi, Cairo and Jerusalem are bracing to jump either way.
What are Trump's positions regarding the Jewish State and the issues that it faces? What will Netanyahu encounter whe he meets with Trump on Wednesday? Three days before that meeting, an interview with the US President was published by Israel's largest daily paper, Israel Hayom. Based on things Trump said, and would not say, Jerusalem continues to adapt to a fast-moving US president whose support for Israel is in a context that is still coming into focus.
"Of course I remember what I told you about Jerusalem. Of course I didn't forget. And you know I'm not a person who breaks promises."
Only days away from swearing in as the 45th president of the United States, Trump is not waiting to jump into international policy matters, including Israel and the nations in its neighborhood.
